vLinker FS (FORScan)
The cable Ford & Mazda owners actually use. Unlocks FORScan for hidden features, module config and deep diag.
The MS-CAN problem, explained
Ford splits its network. High-speed CAN carries powertrain and chassis; medium-speed CAN carries body, instrument cluster, audio and comfort modules. A standard ELM327 clone only ever sees HS-CAN, so FORScan connects, shows you the engine, and quietly misses everything else. An adapter with a proper MS-CAN switch — or automatic switching — sees the whole car. That single detail is the difference between a useful session and a frustrating one.
What FORScan unlocks
Reading and clearing codes on every module, live PIDs the generic tools do not expose, service procedures like EPB retract and injector coding, and — the popular one — As-Built configuration editing: enabling features the car shipped without, changing tyre size and speedometer calibration, adjusting lighting behaviour, disabling double-honk.
Mazda too
Pre-2015 Mazdas share enough Ford architecture that FORScan covers them well, which is why this adapter turns up constantly in MX-5 and Mazda3 circles. Later Mazdas moved away, so check your model year before buying for that purpose.
